Kellison was an American entrepreneur who began manufacturing and selling fiberglass kit cars in the late 1950s. By the time he closed his business, he had produced about 1,000 car bodies. A Kellison is a rare car!
Approximately 300 units of this J4 model were produced. This Kellison is registered as a 1973 Pontiac, as that is the car that donated its engine and transmission to the project. The car is equipped with a Jaguar XK120 front suspension and a GM solid rear axle. The car appears to have been built between the mid- and late 1970s and features a modified roofline that is several centimeters higher than the originals, which were too low. The modified roofline on this example provides better proportions, more practical door openings, and a more spacious interior. The custom Targa top is another nice touch. The fit of the panels appears exceptional for an older fiberglass kit car and attests to a great deal of patience and effort on the part of the original builder. A tilting steering column makes getting in and out easier.
The car could use a new coat of paint, but it starts up and runs very well.
