Sold new in the United States in December 1958, this car found its way to Europe a few years ago. A Frenchman purchased it and imported it to France, where it was restored. The restoration was carried out to very high standards, and a few modifications were made during the process. Originally delivered to a New York dealership in a cream exterior color with a biscuit interior, the Frenchman had the car repainted in a red color appropriate for the era. The biscuit-colored interior was retained. A new black mohair top, complete with a top cover, was also installed at that time. As for the car’s condition, the photos speak for themselves! Technically, the car has been completely rebuilt, and the original automatic transmission has been replaced with a 5-speed manual transmission. The brakes have been upgraded and the suspension has been refined. The brakes were upgraded with a brake booster. A set of adjustable SPAX shocks was installed to improve handling. Three SU carburetors with short intake pipes provide the right fuel mixture and sound for the dual-cam engine. A stainless steel exhaust system rounds out the package. The car runs and drives perfectly and handles extremely well in all circumstances, whether for a leisurely drive or participating in a rally. As for the interior, the leather upholstery is beautiful and has always been very well maintained. The dashboard features the original Smith instrument cluster. All chrome trim is in good condition. The chrome wheels are fitted with new Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in size 205/70-15. In addition, the car has been equipped with a chrome roof rack, Lucas high beams, a new wiring harness, a chrome spare tire, and more. The car is still registered in France and comes with its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
