This 1958 Facel Vega FV4 Typhoon is a restoration project in non-running condition that was acquired by its current owner in 2012; it was disassembled and underwent a chassis and drivetrain overhaul, as well as bodywork carried out by JB Classic & Bespoke in Bodegraven, the Netherlands. The chassis, FVSNY284, is one of 30 examples reportedly built between September 1957 and February 1958, each equipped with a 392 ci Chrysler Hemi V8. It retains its two four-barrel Carter carburetors, a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, drum brakes, 15-inch spoked wheels, red leather upholstery, and a wood-grain painted dashboard. This FV4 is currently offered on consignment at a dealership in the Netherlands, complete with the removed parts, restoration documentation, and a French registration.

Facel was founded in Chaillot, near Paris, in 1939 as a division of Bronzavia, a French aerospace company, and provided bodywork services to Panhard, Simca, Ford France, and Bentley before launching the Facel Vega brand at the Paris Auto Show in 1954. The FV series underwent several iterations between March 1955 and June 1958, with the FV4 being produced alongside the 3B. The FV4 was initially equipped with a 354 ci V8 from Chrysler, while the final models were powered by 392 ci engines.

This car, which was originally red, was stripped down to the bare metal and had its bodywork restored by its current owner. Notable design features include a wraparound windshield, an air intake on the hood, stacked headlights, pillarless side windows, and exhaust tips integrated into the rear bumper.

The 15-inch chrome-plated spoked wheels are mounted on quick-release three-lug hubs and fitted with 205/70 Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires. The FV4 is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension with coil springs, as well as a rigid rear axle paired with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Drum brakes are fitted to all four wheels.

The 2+2 interior features front bucket seats with headrests, upholstered in red leather, with the leather trim extending to the center console, door panels, individual rear seats, and the fold-down rear armrest.

No odometer is installed, and the total mileage is unknown.

The 392 ci Hemi V8 came from Chrysler and was the same engine that powered the 1957 300C. Nicknamed the “Typhoon TY6” by Facel Vega, it produced a rated output of 375 chevaux at 5,200 tr/min. The engine was reportedly rebuilt during the interrupted restoration and is equipped with two Carter WCFB four-barrel carburetors. Engine serial number: TY6572919.

The car retains a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
